To all my friends across the pond, get ready because The Voice UK is coming to your living room very soon! BBC 1 has unveiled its trailer for the upcoming talent show, set to air on Saturday, March 24th at 7pm (GMT).
Now for my American friends, I'm not quite sure if you're all that excited about this news, however, I am totally ecstatic! Many of you know that I studied abroad last semester in Edinburgh, Scotland and whilst abroad I fell in love with the UK version (the original version) of The X Factor. I loved it so much that as the American version premiered at home, I decided to stay faithful to the UK version and pledged to never get involved with the US version.
I love the format of The Voice at home. I find it to be much better than those other pantomimes (i.e. American Idoland X Factor) because it focuses less on the background and look of a singer and more on their voice. Being that auditions are blind, it gives those that may not necessarily "look like a superstar" a better chance at being identified vocally and respected for their special musical ability and/or talent.
The Voice is a great show and as much as I admire the judges on the American panel, I'm starting to get extremely sick of that divalicious disaster known as Christina Aguilera. Girlfriend, I'm all about the curves but learn how to dress yourself! For the $225,000 you make per episode, I think you could shell out a little cash for a stylist or new stylist. By the way, is that a bedazzled CD on your head??? OoOoOoOoO, very D-I-Y!
The Voice UK hosts a pretty spectacular judging panel itself as well. With a panel consisting of pop powerhouse Jessie J, the "It's Not Unusual" legend, Sir Tom Jones, the adorable rocker and The Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue as well as America's own "dirty bit" Black Eyed Peas rapper will.i.amyou know it's going to be a great show! Being slightly obsessed with Jessie J and her Essex accent is even more cause for me to watch The Voice UK.
As The Voice format is slightly different from other shows and being that it is entirely new to the UK, representatives at BBC 1 have been working extra hard to promote new show and have provided a lot of great behind-the-scenes info!
...and for those of you that don't know how the show works, here is a video of host Reggie Yates (co-hosting with Holly Willoughby) explaining the format!
