2012 Grammy Predictions: Will Adele Steal The Show?

If you're into the arts like me, it is the most wonderful time of the year (other than the winter holidays, of course). Award season is in full effect and this Sunday, Februray 12th, is 'music's biggest night,' the 2012 Grammy Awards. Airing on CBS, the Grammys; the musical equivalent of the Oscars will celebrate the worlds greatest artists and play host to a number of big performances as musicians Chris Brown, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Coldplay, Rihanna and many more are set to take stage. Yet, all eyes are really on British songstress, Adele. The 23-year-old, singer from London is nominated for six awards ('Record of the Year,' 'Song of the Year,' 'Album of the Year,' 'Best Pop Vocal Album,' 'Best Pop Solo Performance,' and 'Best Short Form Video') AND is confirmed to perform for the first time since undergoing a serious vocal cord surgery this past November.
Although Adele is the 2012 top dog, we thought it would be interesting to explore the options and predict the winner of some of the most popular categories!

Check it out:
ALBUM OF THE YEAR:
21, Adele
Wasting Light, Foo Fighters
Born This Way, Lady Gaga
Doo-Wops & Hooligans, Bruno Mars
Loud, Rihanna
Predicted winner: As much as Gaga's 'little monsters' will want to believe their queen is set to take home the illustrious golden phonograph, it is without a doubt made for Adele's British mantlepiece. The singer, nominated six times this year moved the world with her sultry lyrics and game changing, second albulm, 21, which has sold over 6 million copies!
RECORD OF THE YEAR:
"Rolling in the Deep" - Adele
"Holocene" – Bon Iver
"Grenade" – Bruno Mars
"The Cave" – Mumford & Sons
"Firework" – Katy Perry
Predicted winner: Although Mumford & Sons' album, Sigh No More (featuring 'The Cave') took home the 2011 Billboard Music Award for 'Top Alternative Album' and is a rock favorite, it still lurks in the shadows of Adele's massive hit, "Rolling in the Deep". Therefore, I feel as if round two goes to Adele...again!
SONG OF THE YEAR:
“All of the Lights” - Kanye West
“The Cave” - Mumford & Sons
“Grenade” - Bruno Mars
“Holocene” - Bon Iver
“Rolling in the Deep” - Adele
Predicted winner: They might as well sit Adele very close to the stage because the girl's going to be getting up a lot! I'll assume that she's bringing an extra set of luggage just for her Grammy awards. Hopefully Kanye won't pull a 2009 'MTV Music Awards,' cause Beyoncé isn't even on the list (which is kind of a shame being that her album 4 was brilliant)!
BEST NEW ARTIST:
The Band Perry
Bon Iver
J.Cole
Nicki Minaj
Skrillex
Predicted winner: And the Grammy goes to ADELE! Just kidding! Adele already took this bad boy home in 2009. I'd like to think this award is kind of a toss up. All the rage kids are thinking Skrillex, the happening hipsters assume Bon Iver, and the Barbz back Nicki. However, according to MTV, country acts usually end up victorious in this category, therefore I'd have to pick The Band Perry.
BEST POP VOCAL ALBUM:
21 -Adele
The Lady Killer – Cee Lo Green
Born This Way – Lady Gaga
Doo-Wops & Hooligans – Bruno Mars
Loud- Rihanna
Predicted winner: I probably should have named this article, 'No Need For Grammy Predictions Because Adele Will Win It All". There really is no competition and with the amount of nominations she's recieved, you already know she's a favorite. Plus have you ever really heard a negative review about 21? I don't think so; seems as if the only one judging Adele is Karl Lagerfield and he's probably feeling pretty stupid right about now.
BEST ROCK ALBUM:
Rock ‘N’ Roll Party Honoring Les Paul – Jeff Beck
Wasting Light – Foo Fighters
Come Around Sundown – Kings of Leon
I’m With You – Red Hot Chilli Peppers
The Whole Love – Wilco
Predicted winner: As great as the competition is within this category, I'd have to say the award will go to the Foo Fighters, who are a popular favorite!
BEST RAP ALBUM:
Watch The Throne – Jay-Z and Kanye West
Tha Carter IV – Lil Wayne
Lasers – Lupe Fiasco
Pink Friday – Nicki Minaj
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy – Kanye West
Predicted winner: WHAT A CATEGORY!!! Apart from my personal disapointment in Weezy's Tha Carter IV, the list is solid and even though I can't stand Kanye West's ego, he is a ridiculously talented man. Lupe and Minaj's albums, although amazing, really don't stack up to the two West productions. Personally, I'd be happiest if Jay-Z and Kayne's power album, Watch The Throne won, however, I have a feeling that nominators will prefer the quality and content of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Either way, it's Kayne's game.
Big names and big prizes but this is definitely Adele's year and I presume she'll make a clean sweep, taking home all six Grammys!!
Do you agree with these predictions?! Do you think Adele will take home all six trophies? If so, does she deserve them?
